I’ve had the privilege of documenting the Moll family a few times now, but never an at-home newborn photography session!
I first met this beautiful family last winter for holiday minis, and also got to photograph them for their maternity session at the beginning of COVID. It’s been really fun seeing Conor grow up in the last year, but watching him be a big brother to baby Isla is really special!
At-home newborn photography is something I love, especially when you have an older sibling present. Your home is where they are most comfortable, so it makes for great images. If they need a break, they can always play by themselves or with one parent for a bit. And let’s not forget about the advantages for the newborn! If they need to nurse for a bit, you’re in the privacy of your home, and if they need a change, it’s easy to take care of that!
A few things that the Moll family did really beautifully for this session that made it go so smoothly:
- Wore neutral outfits — we recommend these because they won’t reflect bright colors onto your baby’s skin, which can happen indoors when there is less light
- Swaddled Isla — we don’t often get an alert, calm baby for the duration of a session, but maybe because she was snug as a bug, she was happy throughout!
- Grabbed a diaper cover — I actually brought one along for this session, but feel free to order one so you can make sure it fits your baby well! They just go over diapers and make your baby look extra cute! Here’s a sweet plain one or you can get fancier with a knit one!
Kate and Ross, your little family is so beautiful, and I love working with you all! I hope to see Conor and Isla continue to grow up and become friends!
