This year’s holiday mini sessions were held at House of Work in downtown Durham! The set up was beautiful and we loved seeing families for their minis!
We loved getting to meet new families and seeing families we’ve worked with before get all dressed up for holiday mini sessions! These are such a great way to get some quick, updated holiday card photos or a family photo for those speedy-growing kids (we get it now)!
When we first pitched the idea of doing minis in TEN minutes, even we were wondering whether it would work. But we’re here to tell you (and we think our clients will agree!) that this is the PERFECT amount of time for young kids. We get that they’re squirmy and want to be all over the place and explore. So why not just have the best of both worlds and knock out those updated photos without burdening them without the pressure of a longer session, especially when you’ve already invested in one that year?
We can’t thank the families who came to this day enough. We truly enjoyed our time with each of you — your kids are beautiful and we loved photographing them! Check out some of our favorites below and then keep reading for some quick tips for holiday mini sessions to keep in your back pocket for the future.
Holiday Mini Sessions: Quick Tips
- Don’t wear matchy-matchy clothing! Come on, do you really want to look like the 1990s? A big nope to that! Need some ideas? Check out this Pinterest board we made for you!
- Prep the kiddos. If they’re old enough, make sure they know that you’ll be doing a quick session together and give them something to look forward to afterward, like a family outing! At the session, instead of trying to force smiles, focus on having fun with them, loving on them, and making them laugh — just like you do when you’re playing together at home!
- Have a plan ready for your photos. After the session, do you plan on ordering cards? Are these going to be gifts for the grandparents? Let us know so that we can make suggestions about ordering and game plan with you!
