Liz and Chad live near downtown Raleigh and so spend a lot of time together out and about in the area. There are so many downtown Raleigh engagement photo locations and we can’t wait to show you the options they chose!
Cobblestones outside of CAM Raleigh
Just on the outskirts of the main downtown squares is the Contemporary Art Museum in Raleigh. The streets just around it are super cute and some have cobblestone paths. We started Liz and Chad’s session here, which made for a quiet backdrop for the beginning of our time together!
Nash Square Park
Next up, we visited Nash Square Park. As the City of Oaks, it’s fitting that in the heart of downtown is this beautiful square which provided us with some lovely golden light peeking through the oak trees. If you love the idea of a city session but still want that feel of greenery, stop by Nash Square!
Favorite Restaurants
Liz and Chad chose the Capital Club, grabbed some signature drinks, and sat outside to enjoy the beautiful evening. There are so many amazing restaurants in downtown Raleigh (we ate at Crawford and Son after the session – 10/10 recommend) and working in a drink is a perfect way to both enjoy your session and add to the variety of photos you receive!
Capitol Building
While it may have some questionable statues on the front lawn, the NC State Capitol building actually makes a gorgeous backdrop for photos and come with a bonus view if you turn around and leave the building behind you. We ended our time with Liz and Chad here. The architecture of the building itself gave us some of our favorite photos from the session, but what was really fun was asking them to run down the lawn and dance together with the sunset behind them.
