As a studio specializing in medium format film, digital photography, and Super 8 cinema, we're always looking for venues that allow moments to unfold naturally rather than requiring us to manufacture them. The Dunlin does exactly that. The pace is slower, the light is softer, and the landscape encourages people to simply be together.
From the moment guests arrive, there are photographs waiting to happen.
Morning coffee on the porch before the day begins. A father reading his vows one last time while overlooking the marsh. Friends laughing as they wander the pathways between events. Children chasing each other across the lawn during cocktail hour. None of these moments require direction. They simply require presence.
That's where we do our best work.
The Lowcountry light is unlike anywhere else in the Southeast. Rather than harsh, direct sunlight, the marsh reflects soft, luminous light back into the landscape throughout much of the day. On medium format film, those subtle greens, muted blues, weathered woods, and warm neutrals create an incredibly rich color palette that feels timeless rather than trendy. The photographs don't need heavy editing because the environment is already doing so much of the work.

We don't believe in pulling couples away from their celebration for an hour-long portrait session. Instead, we'll step away for ten or fifteen minutes during the best light, creating images that feel elegant and intentional while leaving plenty of time to enjoy cocktail hour and celebrate with the people you traveled here to see.
Our second photographer remains with your guests throughout, documenting the conversations, embraces, and spontaneous moments that become just as meaningful as the portraits themselves.
The Dunlin is also one of our favorite places to film on Super 8.
There's something about the movement of the marsh grasses, Spanish moss swaying overhead, guests arriving by golf cart or bicycle, and candlelight flickering beneath the oaks that feels made for motion picture film.
