This workshop that we photographed at Wylde is one of the best things we have done so far this holiday season! When our friend, Amanda, from Amanda Blair By Design, told us about it, we knew we had to attend! Getting to photograph it was even better!
From the moment we stepped foot in Wylde, we were hit by the most amazing and fresh smell of the seasonal pines, and we think there is nothing better at this time of year. The store is bright and a photographer’s dream: if you are in downtown Raleigh, you should definitely stop by!
We got to watch and participate as Nikelle, the owner of Wylde, showed off all of the gorgeous greens she had foraged and showed us how to make the wreaths. We can’t believe all of the different combinations that are possible, and were so surprised by how simple the whole process is! Using the shop’s name as inspiration, Nikelle gave us the permission to get ‘wild’ with our wreaths, and she didn’t have to tell us twice. From berries to pine cones and, our favorite, fuzzy stalks of gold, there are millions of wreaths that could be made. Structured wreaths are gorgeous, too, and she even had some to show off, but we couldn’t help but love the look of ones that have off-center focal points or branches reaching off the sides.
We are so in love with our new, wild wreath that we plan on making our wreath every year going forward! And stay tuned, because an interview with Nikelle about her heart behind Wylde is coming soon to the blog! Thanks so much for having us, Nikelle!
This is what the wreaths looked like when we started!
We loved the fresh mistletoe in the store!
Isn’t Amanda’s wreath below beautiful?
This is our wreath, hanging on our front door! We love it, but the fuzzies are our favorite!
