We were beyond thrilled (and let’s be honest, nervous as heck) to get to photograph Jordan Maunder’s brand session. It’s always nerve-wracking to work with other photographers, especially when you love THEIR work so much!
When Jordan decided to have her brand session at the amazing Heights House Hotel in downtown Raleigh, we knew it was going to be a great one. We love this historic venue (see a wedding editorial we shot there before they officially opened!) and knew it would be a great location for Jordan’s photos. She opted to keep things simple and elegant with a few changes of outfit and some photography and art books to show clients what inspires her. We should also preface this post by saying that no, we don’t understand how she’s so beautiful, and yes, we also think she should be a hair model. Come along with us as we show you three of our favorite photo locations at Heights House!
The Drawing Room
We spent most of our time together in the Drawing Room. This spacious room lets in an incredible amount of natural light and is one of our favorite photo locations at Heights House because of its interesting architectural details, it’s blank canvas feel, and all of the gorgeous furniture options. We used the couch and chairs as well as the large windows to frame Jordan and create images that are timeless and effortlessly chic at the same time.
Our next location was The Parlour. This room has the loveliest fireplace, black velvet chairs, and a bar set up that will leave you wanting to spend a few hours sipping chilled champagne. We shot with their iconic, original pocket doors framing Jordan, as well as directly outside of the room near the entrance of Heights House. As you can probably tell, yes, we love getting those classic photos during headshot sessions, but we also like stretching our artists’ muscles to create unexpected, personality-filled images as well! The photos of Jordan dancing with the chandeliers in the background are definitely some of my favorites.
Staircase, Doors, and Porch
The final spaces we used at Heights House are a 3-in-1 combo! The front doors with their gorgeous antique doorknobs are one of our very favorite features, but we love the spiraling staircase and the outdoor porch area with its lovely shaded light.
Jordan, thank you so much for trusting us with these photos. We’re not sure it’s fair that you’re both an amazing photographer AND model, but we forgive you!
