Museum Wedding in Charlotte, NC | Jimalion & Kayana

Picture: two brides, a gorgeous museum downtown, and an intimate dinner party for family and friends. That’s what Jimalion and Kayana’s wedding in Charlotte, NC felt like!

We love a couple who can celebrate in style, and even though they had to postpone their wedding due to COVID, we think it was worth the wait! We first got to know them at their UNC-Chapel Hill engagement session last fall, and immediately were drawn to their warm energy and sweet personalities. Seeing them with their family and friends at their wedding, and especially hearing the toasts that people gave at dinner, verified that these two are so special and bring together others with their love. Below are some of our favorite images from their day!

As always, we love hearing reflections directly from our couples! Here’s what J&K had to say about their wedding day:

Why did you choose your wedding venue?

We chose our wedding venue because we share a love of museums and history. We wanted to pick a space that felt true to who we were as a couple and bring a unique element to the day.

How did you feel on your wedding day?
Jimalion- I felt at peace on the wedding day (I don’t think all the glasses of champagne helped!). But we had been waiting on this day for what seemed like forever, so I was just glad to know it was finally here.
Kayana – I felt a bit nervous, but mostly excited. I was excited to see how the entire day would play out and how our vision would come together.

How would you describe the “vibe” or feeling you were going for in planning your wedding ceremony and reception?
The vibe we were going for was classic and timeless.

Was there a certain moment during the ceremony that you always want to remember?
Jimalion- I want to always remember seeing Kayana walk down the aisle. I was a crying mess, but she was absolutely beautiful.
Kayana- seeing how emotional Jimalion was as well seeing our family and friends.

What was your favorite moment during your wedding day?
Jimalion- my favorite moment was the reception. Everyone had a great time and seeing everyone enjoy themselves was worth all the stress of planning the day.
Kayana- my favorite moment was sharing my vows with Jimalion.

What was the best surprise about your wedding?  Something you didn’t expect?
The cakes came out much better than we expected. They exceeded our expectations.

What have your guests told you they loved about your wedding day?
The hip hop violinists, people were impressed with the food, the open bar and hearing the toasts.
