As soon as we heard “lake house” when talking through ideas for Kathryn and Tony’s engagement session, we knew we were in for a treat. This lakeside engagement had sun, pups, and a beautiful pontoon boat!
Earlier this year, we posted on Instagram about wanting to do a photo session on a boat. Later that week, when planning Kathryn and Tony’s engagement session, they mentioned that her parents owned a lake house that they frequently visited on Hyco Lake. Little did we know that our dreams would come true so quickly! This lakeside engagement session stole our hearts just as much as Kathryn and Tony’s three sweet dogs!
We drove up to Hyco Lake, about an hour outside of Durham, where Kathryn and Tony also live. The day was chilly, but there was lots of sun, hinting at the spring weather to come! Their sweet little house used to be a hunting lodge originally bought by Kathryn’s grandparents, but there’s been a lot of work done to it, including the newly built boat dock.
Kathryn and Tony started their session with a little champagne on the dock chairs, and then headed out onto the pontoon boat, which Kathryn has been driving since even before she learned how to drive a car! We followed them out with a drone to get some fun shots before they headed back to pick us up so we could grab some close ups.
We love the dynamic images that resulted from this fun session! Kathryn and Tony, thanks for bringing us lakeside — we can’t wait to capture your wedding in a few months!
