As Susanna opened her gift from Barrett, she read the letter that he had written her, she flipped through the pages of a wedding album filled only with the labels of the memories that were yet to come.
“He did such a good job!” she said. “I just love him.” Barrett stepped away from his parents and groomsmen, all watching UT take on Texas Tech in college football, to open his letter from Susanna, which included the ticket stub from the concert they went to together when, as she said, her head finally caught up with her heart and she decided that he was the man she wanted to marry.
We knew that we were going to love photographing Susanna and Barrett’s wedding when we saw that it had its own mission statement (what else would you expect from a TFA teacher?).
“Our wedding will be a joining of two families and a gathering/introduction of all our friends to each other, where we will host them in our city to share in a weekend of love and joy together. And there shall be dancing.”
It is safe to say that they accomplished their mission. We got to spend time in a new city, Houston, with people from all parts of their lives, coming together to celebrate the joining of Susanna and Barrett. Throughout the night we were struck by just how much fun everybody, and we do mean everybody, was having at their wedding. Woven together with the most meaningful of details – a cake made by Susanna’s mom (one of many at the reception…), bee-themed items everywhere (a nod to the several infestations that they have faced together over the past few years – and yes, we did absolutely love this), and even brooches from her grandmothers attached to Susanna’s bouquet – this wedding was clearly so well-thought out and the beginning of a beautiful marriage. Susanna and Barrett ended the night with one last dance alone while their family and friends headed outside to see them off with glowsticks! We feel lucky to have been a part of capturing such a special event for two very loved people. Thank you for having us, Susanna and Barrett! We hope you love these photos as much as we do!
