Even though we work together, running a business can be lonely! Being a photographer means that we get to meet with our clients in person — that’s one of our favorite parts of Radian Photography. However, sometimes it’s helpful to talk to people who just get it. That’s why this Photo Field Trip was so amazing.
We met up with five other Triangle-based photographers, choosing a little community over competition, and went on a little ‘field trip’ to downtown Durham! At the Farmer’s Market, we met up with Katie and Kent. These two lovebirds have been married for almost a year now and were so sweet to photograph. They met in high school and were married in April of last year at the Chapel Hill Carriage House, such a sweet local venue! We talked careers and marriage before everyone arrived and then jumped into a free-for-all shoot!
The Farmer’s Market area is a difficult place to shoot even on calm days because there is so much going on around there — there’s a little bit of construction happening, people are walking or driving, and there are many other distractions. It was refreshing to be able to capture these photos, despite all of those things. With little direction, Katie and Kent showed us what true connection and love looks like, which made our jobs so much easier! Whether in front of a giant green spiky plant, or getting close inside a restaurant to fulfill our wish to photograph them with beautiful symmetrical lights, they did such a great job!
Not only did we have fun meeting other local photographers, some of whom we’ve only gotten to know through Instagram, but we also got to try out Ana Teresa’s 85 mm lens! Getting to experiment with new gear and help other photographers trouble shoot their cameras was definitely a highlight of this experience.
The photo above and below were both shot with the 85 mm lens. We fell in love! It was so much fun to photograph with it that we’re already scheming how to get our own.
Katie and Kent, thank you so much for modeling for us! You both did such a great job. Mark, Ana Teresa, Krista, Melissa, and Laura — we had so much fun meeting you! We hope to see you again soon!
