Oh goodness, was last night amazing! When we woke up yesterday to the sound of rain pouring down on our roof, we immediately had a sinking feeling. Why? Because Natalie and Justin were traveling hundreds of miles to North Carolina for their engagement session.
They are long-distance currently, just like we were during our engagement, but they’re even farther apart than we were! Both of them are in grad school — Justin in California and Natalie in Tennessee — but since Natalie’s family lives in NC and their wedding will be here this summer at The Bradford, they both traveled here this weekend to take care of some wedding plans. We were so sad to think that their session would be rained out. Luckily, the clouds parted in the middle of the day to give us a beautiful sunny day!
We planned their session at UNC, one of our favorite places in the world. We started off at the gorgeous Carolina Inn where Natalie and Justin showed off some sweet dance moves and told us a little bit about their relationship. Four and a half years ago, ready to tackle new adventures as they started their undergraduate journey, they met while intending to just go cliff jumping, and ended up falling for each other as well. We knew after talking to Natalie on the phone that we would love the two of them — she described how Justin keeps her grounded and how he is her best friend. But sometimes it takes meeting and getting to see a couple interact in person to really cement how much love they have for each other! If it wasn’t already obvious to us after hearing from Natalie, the photos we captured definitely prove it!
We waited out a surprise summer storm at the Carolina Inn in time for the sunset, which turned the sky into the most beautiful hues of pink and orange. Even though it had just rained, Carolina’s campus definitely showed off for Natalie and Justin, and we were so glad to be able to capture these photos of them at the Old Well!
Natalie and Justin, we were so glad to be able to spend the evening with you and are so excited to capture your wedding in July! Thank you for driving to meet us, for waiting out the rain with us (special shout out to Justin who ran through the rain to get to the car!), and for being so lovely together!
