Wedding Wednesdays allow us to spotlight creatives, local and not-so-local, whose work we love! These wedding vendors, artists, and small businesses are all doing amazing things and we think that our couples should know about them! We invite you to come along with us to learn more about these businesses that will help you make your day as meaningful as possible (and, if you’re a Radian Bride/Groom, that we would love to work with)!
This week, we’re talking with Amanda Honeycutt, an event designer at Amanda Blair By Design. We love her work and have had the opportunity to photograph it at the Mims House (you can see that here!). Hearing about her wedding day gave us goosebumps! Read on to learn more about Amanda and the heart behind her business!
RP: Tell us about Amanda Blair By Design and who you love to serve!
Amanda: Amanda Blair by Design is a boutique event planning and design company based out of Apex, NC, serving all of NC. The heart of my business, is people. I love dreaming with brides about their wedding day, sipping coffee with other creative entrepreneurs while we swap successes, goals, and struggles, and creating friendships along the way that last beyond an event.
RP: What do you wish brides and grooms knew when thinking about planning or styling their wedding?
Amanda: I feel fortunate to have worked with couples this year that really strived to make their day unique to them, and this is so refreshing to me as a planner and designer. It’s easy to get caught up in replicating what we see on social media, but I really encourage brides to incorporate meaningful details throughout their day. This will make looking back on your photos 5 , 10 , and 15 years from now timeless.
RP: What resources or advice do you suggest for brides and grooms who are thinking about their dream wedding?
Amanda: As a planner, it feels cliche to say “Hire a planner,” but in saying that, I do believe it is truly worth the investment. Weddings have evolved and with that so have the time and money allocated to them. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard, “Oh my goodness, I didn’t think about that,” from a bride, and it is totally normal! For most of my clients, this is their first wedding, and having someone guide you through the decision making process can save you a lot of time, money, and frustration!
RP: What are you working on right now that’s keeping you happy and energized?
Amanda: Right now, I am working with newly engaged brides on their 2017 weddings as well as The Bradford Open House, happening on January 25th from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm! I am designing a reception table that is modern and chic and it will include some lovely pieces from my friend Rosanne at Cottage Luxe as well as florals by Diane at Bowerbird Flowers! If you are in the area, be sure to come by, say hello, and get fresh ideas for your upcoming wedding or event (hint: we will be incorporating a lot of the 2017 pantone color of the year ;-)).
RP: When you planned your wedding, what is one unforgettable thing that you did to make sure your day and marriage were intentionally crafted?
Amanda: My wedding came at a difficult time for my family, as my grandmother had passed away a few months prior. She and my grandfather had been married 60 years, and it was such a blessing to have witnessed their legacy of love and commitment. The day of our wedding they were calling for rain, and due to last minute logistical issues our ceremony was to take place outdoors (something I swore I would never do – ha!). Before the hustle and bustle of the day began, I sat on the bed in our cabin, with my puppy Finley by my side, and took a moment to just breathe. I was marrying my high school sweetheart and faithful companion of nearly 12 years, and that was enough. But at that very moment, a sun beam so bright I had to cover my eyes came streaming through the window. It was her – my grandmother was letting me know that the sun would be shining on this day and our marriage. It is one of the most impactful moments of my life and I believe that it set the intention for not only the day but the legacy of love I was about to embark on. Take a moment on your wedding day to just breathe…
RP: Where can we see more of your work and learn more about you?
Amanda: I recently launched a brand refresh and new website, you can find past weddings and recent collaborations there – but the best place to find me is by hopping over to Instagram, I would love to connect with you!
Thanks for taking the time to share about Amanda Blair By Design with us, Amanda! We love working with you!
